The Old Roan Inn

Situated at the junction of Copy Lane with it's junction with Ormskirk Road (A59), the Old Roan is a very historic venue within our village.
First licensed in 1620; it was on the main turnpike road and therefore very convenient for travellers to stop for refreshments.
They were able to tie their horses to the old stone wall which still surrounds the pub today.
The innkeeper in the 1800's was Thomas Hunt and he built a smithy on his land for the local blacksmith, Peter Naylor. The inn also had stables and barn buildings which still exist today.
The Old Roan Inn is a popular pub serving bar meals and Sunday lunches.
