Blue Anchor Inn

Refreshments at the "Bluey" have been served since the late 1850's. In those days it was known as the "Pride of Lancashire". In the garden was a caravan where teas were served and you could sit and admire the roses or watch the players on the bowling green. In 1854 the landlord was Legh Richman who was reputed to have quite a sense of humour. The building had a thatched roof but in the early 1900's the Inn burnt down and was rebuilt.
Sadly history has repeated itself and the Blue Anchor was the victim of a fire in the early hours of 9 April; Ladies Day at the Grand National meeting.
The inn had recently been taken over by the 'Hungry Horse' franchise who had spent thousands of pounds refurbishing the interior.
We are pleased to report that work started in mid May on the huge task of repairing the damage and this very popular local pub re-opened its doors on 3 August 2010. The Blue Anchor Inn, School Lane.
