Aintree Playing Field, Harrow Drive
Many of you will have noticed the bare patch of land that was the crazy golf course. This was removed after our application for grant funding under the 'Playbuilder' scheme was confirmed. On the site we were due to start installing new equipment for our young people, including facilities for less able children. However, we like many other councils around the country, have had to deal with the sad news that all 'Playbuilder' funding was to be withdrawn to help balance the governments books.We feel this is grossly unfair and fundamentally wrong. As this money was earmarked specifically for children at a time when government is keen to reduce obesity and increase activity levels amongs our young people, we intend to pursue this issue and hopefully we will finally get our funding.
If you were one of the young people we spoke to in our initial consultation we thank you for your input; we just hope now we will be given the opportunity to deliver the goods. Further updates will be on this website and in the Aintree Ratepayers' Association newsletters. Information regarding the park is now available on our new Notice Board which is located on the wall of the changing room building near to the park entrance.
